During my time in China, I was amazed at how most of the families in my area didn’t use diapers for their kids. Looking back now, from a waste and density perspective, not using disposable diapers makes sense. To add to this, on average, Chinese (and many other countries as well) have their children potty trained a lot earlier than the average American child. The main take-away from this episode isn’t to make someone feel bad if they use disposable diapers. Instead, we should be able to take an unbiased approach to many of the habits we have accepted and ask ourselves who is gaining the most from this? And in the case of disposable diapers, well, I’ll let you decide.
